Indicative estimate. Per-piece impacts come from the life-cycle assessment of our creations carried out with La Belle Empreinte (ADEME Impacts database 2.01), compared with an equivalent new product in similar materials (blue water: La Belle Empreinte data; for the Raray pouch, bow ties and scrunchies, estimated pro rata to fabric weight from pieces in the same fabric; a 5-minute shower ≈ 60 L). Average weights used: 3 kg per pair of curtains, 0.8 kg per sheer, 2.5 kg per bedspread or drape, 0.25 kg per cushion cover; 60% of the fabric removed is considered reusable.

How it works

From removal to your collection

We take care of everything, entirely in France.

  1. Collection

We pick up the fabrics removed during your works, before they are thrown away.

  2. Sorting in a sheltered workshop

The textiles are cleaned and selected by an ESAT, a sheltered employment workshop in the Oise.

  3. Design

We design a range for your venue in Chantilly and approve the prototypes with you.

  4. Inclusive sewing

The pieces are hand-sewn in social-enterprise workshops in Hauts-de-France.

  5. Your collection

Delivered with its certificates of authenticity, ready for your shop, your guests or your teams.

An example

The Château Mont Royal, Chantilly

During the renovation of the InterContinental Chantilly Château Mont Royal, striped curtains, bed canopies, boutis and toiles de Jouy were taken down. Instead of ending up in a skip, they became “Le Mont Royal Chantilly”, a very limited edition of hand-sewn accessories.

Each piece recalls its origin and carries the story of the place to those who receive it.

Frequently asked questions

Before you write to us

Which textiles can you take?

Curtains, drapes, bed canopies, boutis, cushions or seat upholstery: we assess every batch. What matters is that part of the fabric can be reused.

Who makes the pieces?

Sorting is done by a sheltered workshop in the Oise, design in Chantilly and sewing in social-enterprise workshops in Hauts-de-France.

What happens to the collection?

It is yours: for sale in your shop, or as gifts for your guests or your teams. It can also be offered on our website, credited to your venue, as with the Château Mont Royal.

When the fabrics of châteaux become the memories of tomorrow

L’Atelier des Châteaux was born from a simple and striking observation: in France’s most beautiful heritage sites, textile treasures are regularly replaced, forgotten, or discarded… Velvet curtains, embroidered hangings, toile de Jouy covers—fabrics steeped in history that deserved a second life.

This is how the idea was born: to collect these exceptional fabrics from châteaux, luxury hotels, and iconic residences, and transform them into useful, elegant, and meaningful objects.

Each creation tells a story. It is handmade in a local workshop, in collaboration with artisans and social integration organizations in the Hauts-de-France region. Upcycling, solidarity-based craftsmanship, and short supply chains are at the heart of our approach.

We create sustainable and poetic gifts, designed for hotels, businesses, discerning visitors, or simply lovers of beauty and authenticity.

Giving an Atelier des Châteaux product is…

– preserving a fragment of French textile heritage
– supporting a local and inclusive artisanal supply chain
– embodying a sustainable, simple, and sincere luxury
