Rescuing the fabrics of châteaux, and letting them speak again
Atelier des Châteaux was born in Chantilly from a conviction: the fabrics that dressed France’s finest places deserve better than the skip. We collect them and bring them back to life, hand-sewn in social-enterprise workshops.
In châteaux, hotels and historic venues, sumptuous furnishing fabrics are thrown away at every renovation.
Yet these fabrics tell a story: of French refinement, of an art of living and of craft skills that have become rare. We decided to carry it on.
From a removed curtain to an object you keep
Every piece follows the same path, entirely in France.
Sorting in a sheltered workshop
The collected fabrics are cleaned and selected by an ESAT, a sheltered employment workshop in the Oise.
Design in Chantilly
Each textile is studied, then the designs are drawn and tested in our workshop.
Inclusive sewing
The pieces are hand-sewn in social-enterprise workshops in Hauts-de-France, with their certificate of authenticity.
A circular, inclusive and cultural project
Environmental
Reduce waste and extend the life of fine materials, rather than producing new ones.
Social
Support local jobs by entrusting our production to work-integration social enterprises.

Preserve France’s textile heritage and tell the story of the places our fabrics come from.

Each creation comes with its certificate of authenticity.
Our creations are made alongside the Château de Chantilly, the InterContinental Chantilly Château Mont Royal, the Auberge du Jeu de Paume, the Château Montvillargenne and the Domaine du Château d’Ermenonville.

Atelier des Châteaux is a non-profit association, born from a strong commitment: to preserve exceptional textiles from the French heritage and offer them a second life, at the crossroads of the circular economy, social inclusion and cultural enhancement.
It all started with a simple observation: in the most beautiful castles, hotels and historic sites in France, sumptuous furnishing fabrics are regularly discarded during renovations. Yet these fabrics tell a story — that of French refinement, of the art of living of yesteryear, of rare artisanal craftsmanship.

We collect these forgotten textiles to transform them locally into useful and poetic objects: pouches, bags, accessories…
Each creation is washed, sorted and made in France, notably in ESATs or social inclusion workshops.
Each piece is unique and carries within it a memory to pass on.

When the fabrics of châteaux become the memories of tomorrow
L’Atelier des Châteaux was born from a simple and striking observation: in France’s most beautiful heritage sites, textile treasures are regularly replaced, forgotten, or discarded… Velvet curtains, embroidered hangings, toile de Jouy covers—fabrics steeped in history that deserved a second life.
This is how the idea was born: to collect these exceptional fabrics from châteaux, luxury hotels, and iconic residences, and transform them into useful, elegant, and meaningful objects.
Each creation tells a story. It is handmade in a local workshop, in collaboration with artisans and social integration organizations in the Hauts-de-France region. Upcycling, solidarity-based craftsmanship, and short supply chains are at the heart of our approach.
We create sustainable and poetic gifts, designed for hotels, businesses, discerning visitors, or simply lovers of beauty and authenticity.
